Introducing block and tackle! The latest cartoon pirate characters currently underway for The Pirate Deck game.
The brief for block and tackle were two cartoon pirate ‘brothers’, who can be played during the game to cause absolute havoc – effectively making the other player ‘miss a turn’.
Block is a rather sturdy character in a striped top and bandana, who has currently swung onto the deck with dagger in hand! His swinging rope is also clearly visible, still partially wrapped around his leg.
Tackle on the other hand is charging straight into battle, with his pistol drawn and a large stick of dynamite in his hand!
He is also sporting a three-cornered hat, with an additional little passenger on board – a rather petrified-looking octopus!
Currently I have all of the base colours in place, along with the majority of the finer details. All that remains now is to add in the final shading and details for both characters.
block and tackle have been immense fun to sketch and turn into full-colour cartoon illustrations and I very much look forward to seeing them during play in the final game.
I have also been working on a couple of new sketches for The Pirate Deck, namely a character named ‘Boatswain’.
He is a portly, dark-skinned seadog, clambering up the ships rigging with a cutlass in hand and a grimace of no-good about him!
