About this cartoon...
Santa’s workshop was an illustrative piece that featured on the back page of the Christmas issue of Tansha magazine, the monthly magazine for members of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club. It depicts Santa’s workshop as Santa and the elves are approaching a bit of a seasonal deadline.
This is fairly appropriate given the time constraints I faced when bringing the illustration to life. It was created initially as a pencil sketch and then inked with artists’ markers. The next stage was to scan the image into Photoshop and apply various colours and effects.
Santa’s workshop is probably the oldest illustration in the portfolio, dating back to Christmas 2008, but remains a favourite of mine, purely because it is so busy and there are lots of fun elements within.
I have completed various Christmas card illustrations for the VJMC over the years, namely Santa Lost In The Snow and Christmas Kisses.
